Hi! I’m Macy Martland, and I’m so excited to share my love of music with you. With over 15 years of experience as both a pianist and teacher, I know how much joy learning piano can bring, and I’m passionate about helping my students discover that same joy :)
For my 6th birthday, my godfather gifted me a keyboard. At first, my parents thought it was a bit of a strange present, but I absolutely loved it, and I’ve been playing piano ever since.
As I grew, I found inspiration in both the classical world and modern music. Mozart and Beethoven were early influences, while artists like Beyoncé and Lady Gaga added a fresh spark that kept me curious and motivated. That combination of traditional and contemporary inspiration continues to shape the way I progress and teach today.
I’ve had lessons for as long as I can remember, and I know how much they helped me grow not only as a pianist, but also as a person. Teaching gives me the chance to give back that same encouragement and to guide others on their own musical journey.
My favourite part of teaching? Seeing the moment something “clicks” for a student. That spark of pride when a new piece finally comes together, or a tricky passage feels easy, that’s what makes teaching so rewarding.
One of the things I love most about being a teacher for LIVE Online Music Lessons is the amazing community of students and teachers. The platform makes it possible to connect with learners all over the world, which is so exciting. I love that LIVE creates a supportive space where students can learn at their own pace, explore the music they love, and feel celebrated every step of the way. It’s inspiring to be part of a team that truly values fun, encouragement, and progress.
Lessons with me are designed to be fun, encouraging, and tailored to you. I love letting students pick some of their favourite songs to learn, so they’re playing music that excites them. I also celebrate every little win, because those small steps build confidence and keep motivation alive.
If you’re thinking of learning piano, my biggest piece of advice is: just go for it! You don’t need to be “born musical”, that’s a myth. All you need is patience, consistency, and the willingness to celebrate small wins along the way.
Yes, the beginning can be challenging, but the rewards are incredible. I honestly couldn’t imagine my life without piano now, and I’d love to help you feel the same.
I’m especially drawn to emotional, cinematic music by composers like Ludovico Einaudi and Hans Zimmer. I also love soulful artists such as Alicia Keys, Adele, John Legend, and Coldplay, who remind me how powerful music can be as a form of storytelling.
